Score, Romney 2ish

16 01 2008

After tonight it might be hard to keep tally of every candidate who has won a primary, but as I have said, it would be exciting to see either side take it to the convention floor and have delegate duel it out. So the score stands at Huckabee, 1; McCain, 1; and Romney 2 (Though it seems that everyone forgets Wyoming). With everyone (or maybe just me) wondering why the hell Fred Thompson is still in the game.

So at least Romney can feel that the millions of his own money he spent got him the gold in a significant state. Oh, the battle goes on.

As always, Speech, Speech, Speech.

Discovering the Old

16 01 2008

Adventure, Love, Intrigue, and some very great animation. This is not in association with Disney’s minions, but the oldest surviving full length animation made in 1926. This film is The Adventures of Prince Achmed, directed and animated by German animator Lotte Reiniger.

It is based off of Arabian Nights and has that very westernized ideas of Middle Eastern exotica. It is truly though a very engaging piece of work that Lotte Reiniger created featuring a silhouette animation technique she had invented which involved manipulated cutouts made from cardboard and thin sheets of lead under a camera.

It also involves color tinting were each slide is hand colored. Yet it is still very stunning and has a grand effect when you also listen to the intense and very filling score. The music is the one thing I haven’t been able to find out about. I have been searching on the web for who composed the score or any other information I can get.

I really want to recommend this to anyone who is in to old movies, silent film or any sort of animations. It really is a great film that transcends time and has really history behind it.
